Mazapé
For our single vineyard wines we have developed a language inspired by the periodic table of elements, which incorporates the different factors that influence the production of a wine: Climate, Vintage Factor, Geology, Viticulture and Winemaking. This project will have a second phase in which we will further develop this language in a book. We encourage you to join us on this journey!
Grape
2022 has been a cool year on the Mazapé estate, with a good distribution of rains in spring, which facilitated good vegetative development of the plants of both Gual and Vijariego blanco, which have given us balanced musts, with very good acidity, which have subsequently been transformed into a fresh and elegant wine. Production: 708 bottles.
Winemaking
Gual and Vijariego are harvested separately, destemmed, and pressed without skin contact. Gual ages for 4 months in concrete eggs, while Vijariego ferments in barrels for 5–6 months with regular bâtonnage. After blending, the wine is bottled and aged for an additional 10 months before release.
Tasting
An intense pale yellow wine reflecting its aging in concrete and French oak. The nose is complex and pure, blending mineral, smoky, and tropical notes (pineapple, jasmine) with citrus, fennel, and buttery brioche. On the palate, a sharp acidity balances a silky, unctuous texture, offering an elegant and deep expression of the Mazapé terroir.
